Today, I am participating in the Writer Tag and I encourage all my fellow writers to do your own. I would love to hear more about your writerly ways. I’ve been writing a lot, but I haven’t been sharing a lot. That’s something I would like to work on. So, with that being said, let’s get on with answering some questions…
Writer Tag Questions:
What do you eat or drink while writing?
Coffee, water, tea, smoothies, or watermelon juice. I usually drink a cup of coffee first thing in the morning while I write and then move on the other stuff.
I don’t like to be distracted with food while I write. I usually take a break to eat and then go back to writing, but sometimes I’ll get sucked in so deep that I’ll grab a snack. When that happens I’ll grab carrot sticks, watermelon, apple slices, granola, or trail mix. It needs to be quick, easy, and healthy. I do enjoy a piece of chocolate or wafer cookie with my evening tea.
What do you listen to while writing?
I like to listen to all kinds of music. It depends on my mood and what I am writing. I do enjoy a good writing session with Lana Del Rey, Sia, Lorde, or Nahko. Morcheeba and Radiohead are always fun too. I listen to a few playlists on Spotify and I also have my own playlists on iTunes. I’ll make a blog post soon about my favorite songs I like to listen to while I write.
What is your biggest writing distraction?
There are so many distractions! Social media, my son, the dog, and my overactive mind are my biggest distractions.
What is the worst thing that ever happened to you while writing?
I spilled water on my computer. It ended up being okay, but it scared me.
What is the best thing that ever happened to you while writing?
Finishing the first draft of my YA novel. I felt like such a winner.
Who do you communicate with or not communicate with while writing?
My son and my husband are the only two people I will communicate with.
What is your secret to success and your biggest writing flaw?
I don’t consider myself successful, yet, but I am striving for success. My game plan to become successful is to just keep going. Keep writing and don’t give up. If you write one page a day you can have a finished novel within a year.
My biggest flaw is self-doubt, but I’m learning to face my fears and work through it.
What inspires you? Or what makes you productive?
I am a very visual person, but I find inspiration through many sources: Books, movies, music, art, photography, people, kind words, nature, animals, running, etc. I’m most productive when there aren’t any distractions around and I have a clear idea in my head.
What is one thing you do or other writers do that is annoying?
For myself, self-doubt. Other writers don’t annoy me at all. Maybe I just haven’t been around enough of them, but I find myself really liking writers.
Are you willing to share something you’ve written?
Yes, but I always get anxiety when I share my work. I have trouble sharing things that are personal, but I’m working on it.
The End. 🙂
